Composer: Peter Ratnik Title: Clari To The Fore Instrumentation: 3 Bb clarinets, bass clarinet Programme note: This piece is a musical journey through the Spanish countryside; in fact one could say that it is a miniature tone pome. The work starts by evoking musical images of a lazy Sunday afternoon in the Spanish countryside, with a gentle breeze blowing across the fields. In the distance one can hear the pure essence of a traditional folk music being played in the local town. As one draws nearer the town the music seems to transform itself from that of a farmers lament to that of festival. A lively zoppa (syncopated) feel encapsulated the village square with dancing, wine and food. And the end of the day the mood reverts back to one of peasant tranquillity and the serenity of the Spanish countryside. Availability:the composer |
