Composer: Howard Skempton Title: Air Melody Instrumentation: Flexible - some specified instruments - 3 lines, one of melody, two of drones. Duration: 2 minutes Difficulty: Easy Technical Issues: The piece has a melody line and a drone in octaves. It has no dynamic or tempo markings, and these can be worked out in a workshop or rehearsal. Programme note: This piece can be worked up into an interesting and varied piece by they group of performers available at the time. The London Chamber Group's trio worked out their own scheme of varying the instrumentation, timbre, dynamics, and tempo, to develop a performance from the material provided by the composer.
