Programme note:
This very simple piece reflects a sense the of desolation and purposeless waste at the end of the First World War when the guns fell silent. It uses few notes, with long spaces between. Performed at Wade Deacon School, Cheshire, UK, 1997, in New York in 1998, and at the Conway Hall, London, 1999.
