Composer:
Daniel Cocchetti
Title:
Oriental Nocturne
Instrumentation:
Flute, Violin, Clarinet, Cello
Duration:
5 minutes
Programme note:

The title epresses the spirit of the work since it is inspired by melodies, songs and oriental hymns, which are linked by a kind of rythmical design based on a Japanese scale. The music owes its melancholy atmosphere, and its special mix of timbres, not only to the frequent use of the mute and the pizzicati on the strings, but also to the use of the low registers of the flute and clarinet.
