Composer: Alan Taylor Title: The Eternal Trio Instrumentation: Clarinet, violin, cello Duration: 7 minutes Difficulty: Moderate to harder Technical Issues: The piece alternates abraisive sounding passages for the strings, based on ostinati and repeated chords, with lyrical passages led by the clarinet. The clarinet is, in a sense, the soloist. Programme note: This trio was written for Brigid Constantine, Nicky Jenkins, and David McDuff, who make up one of the ensembles in the London Chamber Group. The title of the piece does not refer to them, but rather seeks to connect the music to the world of personal relationships. The first draft of the piece was completed on New Year's Eve 2000 in Malaga. Availability: From my SibeliusMusic home page where you can view, play, and print the piece or from Alan Taylor |
