Composer:
Maud Hodson
Title:
Frozen Ink
Instrumentation:
2 vln, vla, vlc
Duration:
4 minutes
Difficulty:
Moderate

Programme note:

This is an occasional piece rather than one for the concert hall. It is all played forte, and consists almost exclusively of the notes C & D, although other pitches are used as flavouring. It is constructed as a series of blocks of different texture, harmonically static but rhythmically energetic.

Maud Hodson studied composition with John Casken, and then took an MMus in Theory & Analysis at King's College London. Maud's work has been played by the Nash Ensemble, The Lindsays, The Goldberg Ensemble, members of the Steve Martland Band, The New Music Players and the London Sinfonietta.
