Composer: Terry Mann Title: The Parting Glass Instrumentation: String quartet Duration: 3 minutes Difficulty: Moderate to easy Technical Issues: The piece can be performed with more than one player per part if required. "Solo's" can be solo or unison, as preferred. Similarly, the falling C sharps can be performed divisi. Programme note: The piece was imagined as a quiet closing piece for a concert. The title refers to a poem by Burns, and the piece tries to retain his sense of non-sentimental nostalgia. Availability: from the composer |
