Composer: Alan Taylor
Title: Sequenzas Faciles y Sensatas - Sensible and Easy Sequences
Instrumentation: Guitar and String Quartet
Duration: 7 minutes
Difficulty: Harder
Recording:
MIDI Recording

Programme note:

These 'Sequenzas' were written for Sergio Puccini. They are based on a scale which does not readily offer the possibility of modulating or moving to other scales. The most obvious thing do is go up and down, repeating and varying the same material, and then doing the same with a variation on the theme - in the form of musical sequences.

The title is a reference to the Sequenzas for various solo instruments, written by Luciano Berio. They are rightly famous not only for their musical quality, but for their extreme level of difficulty. These 'sequences', by contrast, are readily playable, and remain restrained throughout.
