Composer: Alan Taylor
Title: Repetitive Strain
Instrumentation: Trombone Trio - 2 tenor trombones, 1 bass
Duration: 8 minutes
Difficulty: Moderate to harder

Recording:
MIDI Realisation

Technical Issues:
The piece contains a great deal of repetitive staccato music, some of it sparcely laid out. Good co-ordination between the players will be needed to ensure that they do not drift appart in their timing.

Programme note:
In writing music, have often found it necessary to work hard to make myself repeat pitches, finding that the melodic urge led me to follow a pitch with a different one, rather than to explore the tensions and dramas which can arise through the development of repetition. With this piece, I've finally cracked it, though it was hard work.
