Composer: Alan Taylor Title: Repetitive Strain Instrumentation: Trombone Trio - 2 tenor trombones, 1 bass Duration: 8 minutes Difficulty: Moderate to harder
Recording: The piece contains a great deal of repetitive staccato music, some of it sparcely laid out. Good co-ordination between the players will be needed to ensure that they do not drift appart in their timing. Programme note: In writing music, have often found it necessary to work hard to make myself repeat pitches, finding that the melodic urge led me to follow a pitch with a different one, rather than to explore the tensions and dramas which can arise through the development of repetition. With this piece, I've finally cracked it, though it was hard work. Availability: from Alan Taylor or from his SibeliusMusic home page where you can view, play, and print the score. |
