Composer: Alan Taylor Title: Travel Together To... Instrumentation: Sop, Alto, Tenor, and Bari Saxophones, Vibraphone Duration: 6 minutes Difficulty: Moderate Recording: MIDI Realisation Technical Issues: The piece is mostly in a steady but fairly fast 4/4, but with one section in 3/4, and one section where the saxohphones hold quiet chords while the vibraphone plays rhythmic figures in its own time. Programme note: The piece was written for Derek Foster on Vibraphone and the Medusa Saxophone Quartet. They had played separate pieces at a London Chamber Group event in 2002, and were interested in a piece which brought all five instruments together. The piece uses three chord sequences, each of four jazz-like chords, to construct a journey for the players, but they and audiences will have to decide for themselves where it arrives. Availability:from Alan Taylor or from his SibeliusMusic home page where you can view, play, and print the score. |
