Composer: Alan Taylor Title: Waltz, Trio and Lament Instrumentation: Wind quintet - fl, ob, cl, hn, bsn Duration: 7 minutes Difficulty: Good amateur Recording: MIDI Realisation Technical Issues: Conventional notation, consistent rhythm, but goes quite fast. Clarinet part easier to play on a Clarinet in A. Distorted diatonic musical language. Programme note: The piece makes fun of the waltz form, to serious intent, before dissolving in regret. Premiered by the London Chamber Group, BMIC, Dec 1997, and performed by them in May 2000 and September 2000. Availability: from Alan Taylor or from his SibeliusMusic home page where you can view, play, and print the score. |
