Composer: John Guilfoyle Title: Quintet for Winds Instrumentation: fl, ob, cl, hn, bsn Duration: 17 minutes, 5 movements Difficulty: Moderate to good amateur Technical Issues: Some solo passages Programme note: John Guilfoyle began writing songs modelled on Bob Dylan and The Beatles, and later as guitarist with the band Do Not Pass Agogo wrote songs incorporating Latin American, African, and Caribbean influences. He has extended his range of styles through studying composition with Brendan Beales and Peter Sander. The Wind Quintet was written in 1995. Different compositional techniques (modal, serial, tonal) are used in different movements. Availability: Not known |
