Composer: John Cage Title: Music for Wind Instruments Instrumentation: fl, ob, cl, hn, bsn Duration: 9 minutes Difficulty: Good amateur/professional Technical Issues: Very fast Programme note: John Cage is best known for his pioneering efforts in the incorporation of chance procedures and performer choice in his compositions, as well as for inventing the "prepared piano". This 1938 work consists of three traditionally notated movements, the first and third of which are studies in rhythmic and ensemble precision, while the second, a duet for oboe and horn, is a lyrical intertwining of lines at a more leisurely pace.
