The first sketch of this piece was written at 3am in a wakeful period during a night of disturbed sleep. Much of the rest of the work on the piece was done late at night. The first draft was performed in a workshop by Ixion in July 2001. The work was given its premiere by the Ensamble Rosario at their fifth annual festival of contemporary music in Rosario, Argentina, in June 2003.
