The piece takes a series of simple musical ideas, presented very quietly at first as isolated fragments, and develops them to the edge of their potentialities. I have long been fascinated by two different sound-worlds. One is a world of natural sounds, infrequent and irregularly spaced, as well as distinct from one another. The other is the development of ideas to their extreme. This piece brings the two worlds together, and presents the results of developing systems to the point of their collapse.
