This is the third of a series of pieces I have written with the title of Conversation. They have been for a variety of instrumental combinations. The piece was written for Marcelo Ajubita, a viola player and composer, and premiered in Rosario, Argentina, in 2004. It had since been substantially revised. In the piece, the viola and piano are treated as equal partners in a conversation, rather than as soloist and accompanist.
