This piece was written with, and for, the Marsyas Trio, a flute, cello, and piano trio, and adapted slightly for performance by Piano Trio. I collaborated with the Marsyas Trio throughout the process of writing. Many of the musical ideas arose from suggestion they made before a note was written, and the idea of a contrasting section to follow the opening came from them. So was I the composer, or their amanuensis? I'm not really sure
