Figure in the rain

The Rain Cometh Down
SAB and piano
2 minutes
Difficulty level: Community Choir
The words in this short piece are taken from the Book of Isaiah, Ch. 55: 10 and 11, King James' Bible, and from England's New Chains Discovered, by John Lilburne, a prominent Leveller, published in 1649 during their campaign against Oliver Cromwell's move towards military dictatorship.
The rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven,
and returneth not but watereth the earth,
and make it bring forth and bud that it may give seed.
So shall my word go forth out of my my mouth.
My word shall not return to me void, but it shall prosper.

Our cause and principles do through their own truth
get grounds in mens' understandings.
Where there was one that owned our principles,
there are now hundreds.
Though we fail our truths prosper.
