The Southwark Consorts of Winds
Invitation to composers and arrangers
We welcome approaches from composers and arrangers, because we are always looking for more music. We would be please to hear from:
- Composers of contemporary music who would like to write us a new piece, or arrange a piece of theirs, for our
Ancient and Modern Consort
- Arrangers who would like to adapt a piece of music from the thirteenth to the early eighteenth century for our
Ancient and Modern Consort
- Arrangers who would like to adapt a piece of clasical music to suit the players we have available in our Classical Consort
- Arrangers who would like to write a new piece, or adapt a piece of clasical music for our Clarinet Consort
The Ancient and Modern Consort
This Consort has a fixed instrumental line up. It plays newly commissioned music and arrangements of ancient music - from the baroque, renaissance, and mediaeval periods.
The instrumentation is:
- flute
- oboe
- clarinet
- alto sax
- clarinet doubling bass clarinet
- bassoon
- trumpet
- horn
- trombone

The Classical Consort
This Consort plays classical wind serenades, suites, and similar music written from the eighteenth century through to the twentieth. So far the Consort has played octet music, but flutes are also available. The total instrumentation is:
- flute (1 or 2)
- 2 oboes
- 2 clarinets
- 2 bassoons
- 2 horns

The Clarinet Consort
This is a standard clarinet choir, in our case with one instrument per line. The total instrumentation is:
- Eb clarinet, doubling Bb
- 1st Bb clarinet
- 2nd bb clarinet
- 3rd Bb clarinet
- Eb Alto clarinet, doubling as Bb clarinet - alternative transpositions of parts needed since we may not have an Alto available
- Bb Bass clarinet
- Bb Contra Bass clarinet
